University of Dundee (UoD)
The University of Dundee School of Medicine is integrated with Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, which is one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals and boasts internationally renowned research facilities. Dundee has a strong track-record of health informatics in diabetes, initiating the national electronic medical record, SCI-Diabetes (www.sci-diabetes.scot.nhs.uk), the online records access service, My Diabetes My Way (www.mydiabetesmyway.scot.nhs.uk) and providing services to support epidemiological research through the Scottish Diabetes Research Network (www.sdrn.org.uk).
My Diabetes My Way (MDMW – www.mydiabetesmyway.scot.nhs.uk) is the NHS Scotland interactive website for people with diabetes and their carers, currently with over 40,000 registrants. It contains multimedia resources aimed at improving self-management, including traditional information leaflets, interactive educational tools, videos describing diabetes-related complications and testimonials from people with diabetes talking about their experiences.
